As people are moving to Google suite and LucidChart, they need to be able to import Visio flowcharts previously embedded in MS documents to LucidChart, where the Visio source files are no longer available. There is a way to extract an embedded Visio image to a png image file. If the png could be imported into LucidChart such that it can be edited afterwards, it would save a significant amount of effort in having to recreate the entirely new workflows in LucidChart.
Hi, thanks for this idea! We encourage anyone else who’s interested in this to upvote this post and share any additional details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience. For more information about how we manage feedback in this community, please take a look at this post:
We also have a similar need. We created flowcharts in Google Slides and PowerPoint, and lack a way to bring them into Lucidchart as an editable document. We can bring them in as images, but there is no way to convert them into editable shapes.
I would add that not just PNG files would be useful - SVG files might be easier to convert, and many of our source documents could be converted to SVG instead of PNG.
Thank you all for your feedback! We do not currently have plans to support this import functionality. If you have any living or active documents at the time of migration, we recommend manually recreating those. For any documents that are archived or no longer need to be edited, we recommend importing them via the standard PNG import so you don’t have to recreate them. Please let me know if you have any questions!
