One more thing. Where our Group View feature doesn't accomplish exactly what you're needing to do it may help. You can read more about it here.

I'm following up because I met with one of my colleagues and we found that there is actually a way to do this! We saw you also submitted a ticket for help with this so keep an eye out for a response from us on that.

To add a dotted line between employee shapes make sure you are not in the org chart editing mode (by pressing esc on your keyboard). From here hover over the employee shape until you see a node appear on the outer edge of the shape. Click and drag this node to draw a line. You can change the appearance of the line in the Lines menu from the formatting bar. To learn more about how to work with lines please see our article.

My colleague also found a template you and others may find useful titled "Matrix org chart." To use this template search for it in the Templates library.

I still recommend submitting a feature request to the product developers in case there is anything additional you would like to see here or if you would like this functionality to be embedded within the org chart experience itself.
