AWS Shapes for 2022 and 2023

Hi Seth thanks for posting in the community! While I cannot provide an exact ETA I can confirm that our product team plans to update the AWS icons for both Lucidchart and Lucidscale this year. In the meantime you can import icons or copy/paste them into your documents. Hope this helps!

Hi @rob p102 thanks for continuing this thread. I checked with our product team and they confirmed that they released an updated icon set this year labeled as AWS 2021 (the year of the style change). You should be able to find these icons by clicking the "+Shape Library" button found in the shape menu.

I can't seem to find an EC2 'm7g' instance shape. Are there new shapes from AWS that are needed by LucidChart?

Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! As Abigail mentioned above if there are shapes you cannot find within our library you can import icons or copy/paste them into your documents.

Importing all of the AWS 2023 shapes one by one would be a huge undertaking for me that would also not benefit anyone else. When does LucidChart plan to add the new shapes library for AWS please?

A new shape library for AWS 2024 shapes has been released!

That is great news!  I noticed within the 2024 shapes that ‘Group Icons’ is missing.  So for the moment I’m having to still leave that subset enabled from the 2021 shapes.  Is that something that could be added?

There are also a decent amount of icons missing from the ‘Compute’ section in the 2024 shapes - the ones specific to instance types.

Also still missing the ‘Group Icons’ set, here it is from the 2021 shapes as a reference.

​@cchapin After investigating, I can report that the specifically-labeled EC2 Instance icons are no longer contained in the current asset package published by Amazon, which is used as the “Source of Truth” to define the current official icon set.

There is still a generic Instance icon in the latest library. In addition, the specifically-labelled EC2 Instance icons are still available in Lucid’s legacy AWS 2021 library.

The Group set is coming very soon!

​@cchapin I think you might interested to know about this new feature that just released for the generic ec2 “Instance” block: You can now click in the center and manually type a custom label for any specific instance type you wish.
