Valentine’s Day is such an exciting day in the classroom with many opportunities for learning and fun!
Using Lucidspark, you can create virtual Valentine boxes that can easily be shared with the whole class. Using the template found here, students can decorate their own Valentine boxes using colors, GIFs, images, and Emojis. They can then share their Valentine box Lucidspark board to their classmates to receive virtual Valentines!

I’m excited to see which gift my students like the most for Valentine’s Day. I’d pick a stuffy. What would you pick? :) Here’s my template if you want to try it out with your students.
Every year to celebrate Valentine’s Day I had my students brainstorm and plan kindness projects for the school. I used Lucid to facilitate this process. I loved how this project allowed students to work together to have a positive impact on the whole school and Lucid simplified the planning process, so students could focus their time and effort on completing the project. Here is the board if you want to take a closer look.
First, we brainstormed as a class together in Lucidspark
Then we started to narrow down our ideas and sorted by achievability
Next, we evaluated the impact of each project idea and identified potential roadblocks
Once we narrowed the projects down to 4 viable options, students went into their groups breakout board and used the project planning template to organize and execute their project.
Valentine’s Day Simile Lesson
A significant number of my students are immigrants who are not only learning English but also navigating American culture and customs. For some of them, Valentine's Day might be a new and unfamiliar concept, as it may not be celebrated in the same way in their countries of origin. Therefore, it's important for me to create inclusive and culturally sensitive activities that allow them to learn about and participate in American traditions.
One of the activities I do for Valentine's Day is designed to introduce our students to the tradition of giving compliments and expressing affection through similes, while also teaching the language function. As part of this activity, students will be asked to complete the simile "You are as sweet as _____" by filling in the blank with a word that represents something they find sweet or endearing. This not only helps them practice their English language skills but also encourages them to express their feelings and engage with the cultural practice of exchanging kind words on Valentine's Day.
By incorporating such activities, I aim to provide our students with a safe and supportive environment where they can learn about American customs and feel included in the school community.
@Shira M What an awesome way to tie in both culture and content! I love it - thank you for sharing!
@Shira M I love how your lesson focuses on inclusivity! Such a great way to make students feel accepted and loved in their school community!
Here’s one for my 4th and 5th graders to learn a little bit about the history of Valentine’s Day. I have included an article for them to read, a video for them to watch, 2 places to write a fact they learned, and then a place to add a GIF or image about how they feel about Valentine’s Day!
@Kathy R What a fun way to facilitate the research process with a fun topic! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! What an inspiring and creative way of celebrating Valentine’s day with Lucid tool-suite! Awesome!
