Having a solid grasp of vocabulary is the foundation of learning a new language. With Lucidspark, there are countless ways for you and your students to learn, use, and practice new vocabulary words.

One of my favorite options for brand new words is to have students create a Frayer model for each one. Here are some example templates in English, Spanish, and French:

Frayer models are super versatile - you can change each of the four corners to be whatever is best for your students and their needs. In these examples, I chose to have a translation, a sentence, some examples, and some non-examples. The examples and non-examples can be images or words/phrases, depending on the type of vocabulary.

Here are some filled-in examples in French - one using Lucidspark’s image search option and one using Lucidspark’s Pen (freehand drawing) option:

After students have filled in their Frayer models, you can encourage further practice by having them copy and paste the images elsewhere on the Lucidspark board to use as flashcards, Pictionary, or any other method of practice.

Thank you for sharing!  I love the idea of creating vocabulary cards in Lucid.  I made this Spanish greetings matching visual activity.  Here is my template if you want to try it.  I plan on using it over and over again and just changing the vocab words that we are working on for that week.

That’s a very creative idea @Morgan T ... and will definitely be helpful to promote learning.

Thank you for all of these great ideas!  I don’t teach a foreign language class, but I like to incorporate some Spanish vocabulary into my weekly lessons.  Here is a fun color matching activity I have used. Here is a link to my template in case you want to duplicate it to make your own copy.
