I love these examples and I am so looking forward to seeing how educators will work Visual Activities into the classroom for back to school
I plan on using these for my Welcome Warm Up each day. This would get my students into Lucid (which we haven't used before). And as I create the warm ups I can keep adding a new frame so I can just share the warm up of the day for each week (but I can also keep them all in one place for next year). As we move forward I can also start adding in polls and visual questions too. With this on the board as they walk in this also keeps my kids from immediately settling in when they arrive and moving on to their own thing!
Hi Kathy thank you for sharing this awesome example!
I've done something similar with my students and rotated between having them use virtual sticky notes and (on days where they needed to move more) I sometimes handed out physical sticky notes and projected it onto a wall/whiteboard and had them stick them on manually. So many creative ways to play with Lucidspark!
We'd love to hear how it goes when you implement this and please share any feedback you have for us and other educators!
@addie h we need some physical Lucid sticky notes that can auto-scan to Lucidspark ala Rocketbook! (Or maybe just get a Lucid integration with the coming soon Rocketbook Sticky Notes) #dreaming
Would you mind adding your idea to our feature request form? Ideas submitted to this form are passed on to the product development team for their consideration.
We love hearing ideas and feedback from teachers so we can understand how Lucid products can be most helpful in the classroom
Thanks @stacey r for sharing your feedback with us! We'd love to continue to hear your ideas and thoughts
I have been working to have my students become more reflective. I love the idea of using these visual activities as a quick way for students to reflect on their understanding at the end of a lesson or activity.
It also got me thinking about an activity I have done for years where I have the students create a "Me"phabet. Essentially they take the alphabet and create picture for each letter of the alphabet that has to do with them. I converted it to Lucid and will use it to teach them the basics of using LucidChart and then use the Collaborative part of LucidSpark to share them with the group. Pretty stoked for this!
Hi @tom l thank you for sharing these awesome examples! We've been especially excited to see how teachers use our new tool Visual Activities as it's the perfect fit for the classroom. I hadn't thought about how you could use it to do a CFU or check for understanding with students. Brilliant!
At the beginning of school (and throughout the year) we use text talks in my class. We read stories and do various activities using some vocabulary terms from the text. One of my favorite beginning of school read alouds is Brave Girl by Michelle Markel. In the book it says “Then they’d strike- refuse to work- until the bosses treat them better.” We discuss the definition and use the sentence in another context. Then we have some fun with the word. Often my games are multimodal to access all the students. I will be using one of the Lucid icebreakers to have the students get to know each other while also using the word refuse.
Hi @shira m! I love this activity idea that gives students a chance to demonstrate what they've learned. The cute images make it even more fun We would love to hear how it goes after you've tried it out!

Addie I love the idea of leveraging movement with the physical sticky notes! The kinesthetic addition sounds powerful. Great to hear how you are adapting the activity!

Tom, I’d love to hear more about the ways this might shift the depth of reflection for your students. Are there specific ages where it is more impactful?

This sounds like a great method for moving them through the basic ideas, and get them picking up deeper sets of features incrementally. Thank you for sharing!
I just participated in a fun visual activity my colleague created, rank your favorite girl scout cookies, and I wanted to share it with everyone because it was so much fun! Here is the template you can use :)

I’m going to try mind mapping this year as a part of my opening activities. On my board I have statements (You are a friend. You are a creator. You can change the world...). I took 3 of them and added them to a mind map template.
I am brave. I am important. I am a leader.
I’ll show the kids how the maps work and they can add the different ways they are brave, a leader, or important. I decided not to do these collaboratively and to try the Canvas assignments this time since some of the answers may be more personal. Hopefully I can get Canvas to create the assignment, otherwise, I have a forced copy link I can post.
I this! What a great way to empower students!
