Have you heard the good news?  Google recommends Lucidspark to replace Jamboard.  Help teachers as they transition from Jamboard to Lucidspark by posting how you use Lucidspark in the classroom and/or highlight your favorite Lucidspark features.

Some of my favorite things:

  • Navigation: I have always loved virtual whiteboards but they can be tricky to navigate. I love that Lucidspark incorporates frames table of contents and paths. In addition the facilitator controls like "take the lead" or "follow a collaborator" are really helpful here.
  • Voting/reactions
  • Sorting
  • Record video (particularly for whiteboards that students will navigate on their own it's nice to be able to leave a video introduction or instructions)
  • Visual Activities

I use Lucid in a few ways. I use it for mind mapping a lot to help generate and organize ideas. My students just built their identity maps and came up with ideas for what to write a paragraph about themselves by writing down and then organizing their ideas. I also use it for formative assessment where students can quickly answer one question to give me an idea of what they're struggling with. Also the interactive activities are so much fun and I'm still learning how to incorporate them into my class!

I LOVE using Lucidspark to kickstart my class discussions.  I find that my students are more engaged in a discussion if they have had time to reflect and read what others have said in Lucidspark first.  I found a few discussion templates that I've really liked in Lucidspark but a lot of the time I just pull out a text box write and lock a prompt and send it out to students.  Then I use the timer to help the students and I keep track of the time.  Since students have so much fun adding their ideas and using the emojis to respond to their classmates we can quickly lose track of time.  Here is an example of one of my favorite discussion topics I did with my students.  The age old question: Should students be required to wear uniforms?!

I used Lucid this year to create a pre-assessment for multiplication for my 3rd graders.  I was able to have them complete the assessment and I was able to see what facts they knew and where I needed to start with their understanding.  It was easy to create from a template and the kids really enjoyed it!

Thank you everyone for sharing your ideas! We’re excited you’ve made the choice to use Lucid for your classroom 🎒 As of today we’re working to build the migration process in Lucid from Jamboard. We’ll update this post when you can start migrating Jams into Lucid - please also feel free to leave your feedback on this process in this thread!

I use Lucid for a lot of things.  My favorite new thing is the Visual Activities.  I have used them for a couple things.  My current favorite is using them to identify Text Structures.  It was a quick activity that the students were able to engage in and I was able to see which text structures they have more difficulty identifying.

Hi @tom l this is an awesome example! Visual activities can be a great way to check for understanding with students. Thanks for sharing your ideas in the community!

I used the Mind Mapping tool this morning for my student to brainstorm some places they would find germs/microbes.  They were easily able to see other’s ideas, and with quick instruction, they were able to create new slots so they could add more ideas.  This one was fun and easy!
