Detailed Walkthrough

Rosa uses Lucidspark to transition away from typical lectures to a more learner-centered, active instructional environment.  To accomplish this, she divides students into groups and assigns each group one component of the overarching topic to research and then each group presents their learnings to the rest of the class.

Rosa uses concept/mind mapping for these activities because it requires students to demonstrate and organize their understanding of the material in a visual way; making it easy for all of the other groups to quickly absorb the information they are sharing.

Rosa starts by creating a concept map template for each group that includes specific instructions and a basic start of a concept map.

Once she has a board made for each group, she copies the share-link to each board and pastes them into her Learning Management System (she uses Canvas, but this would work in any LMS).  Each group member clicks on the link to their collaborative board and starts working together to meet the objective for the assignment laid out in the instructions.
