In this article we will give a recommendation for setting up collaborative Lucid group assignments in Canvas.  While the Lucid assignment submission type isn’t an option when using Canvas group assignments, you can still set this up in Canvas in a couple easy steps.  Watch the how-to video or read through the steps below.

How teachers set up the group assignment

1. Create a force-copy link for the Lucid template/s you would like the students to use for the group assignment

2. Create an assignment in Canvas

3. Add the instructions for the group assignment in the Canvas Rich Content Editor and insert the force copy link to the template

4. Set the Submission Type to Online: Website URL and/or File Upload

5. Choose the group set under the group assignment selections

6. Save and publish the assignment

How students access, collaborate, and submit their assignment

1. One group member clicks on the template linked by the instructor in the instructions of the assignment

2. Then, they use the share button in the upper righthand corner to invite the other group members to the collaborative document

3. When the students are done, they submit their assignment by copying and pasting the Lucid share-link into the Canvas URL submission or from Lucid the students click File → export as a PDF and submit using the file upload option in Canvas (if students submit using a link, from Speed Grader you will need to click on “view in a new tab” in order to view it)
