I’ve made some process flows within Lucidchart and linked these to my summary steps within Google Sheets. Due to the way data linking works, it seems its automatically connected to the individual “cell” and not the text within it (=’container’?). Whenever I have to remove a process from my summary, the empty or deleted row messes up my linked data.
For example, I removed one row within my linked sheet and now all my data within my process flows is messed up. Is there a way where I don’t have to change 400+ linkings every time a change is made?

Hi @JdB,
Thank you for posting in the Community! Can you clarify what occurs to your process flow? Do shapes go missing? Does the order change? Can you provide a screenshot of the issue as well as a screenshot of your Javascript console? You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + J (if your computer is a Windows / Linux) OR Cmd + Opt + J (if your computer is a Mac).
Of course I can clarify! I currently have detailed process descriptions written out, the main steps of these (“Step 1.0”, “step 2.0”, etc) are then brought to a summary page with a =query formula. This way the data gets automatically updated with any changes.
I’ve used the data linking feature to link the main steps to the shapes of a flowchart. Think text like "Review document” and such. I had set everything up, but when I added a few new rows to the summary sheet (for my index and new processes), it seemed the data within Lucid had not gone down with the content. So, for example, the first link used to be at B25 with text, its text now shifted down to B28 due to new rows, but Lucidchart is still linking cell B25. The shapes stay the same, but the text within them either becomes empty or incorrect.
This essentially means that whenever a change is made where a new step gets added, I’d have to manually, individually, re-link a bunch of cells. Unfortunately, I can’t share a screenshot of the flowchart publicly since it’s confidential information. Here’s the data link table within Lucid:
Here’s the console too of course, opened within Lucidchart:

Hope this helps! If I need to provide anything else, do say.
Thank you for providing that additional context! When you are adding new data, are you adding it to the table in Lucidchart? Or are you adding it to linked sheet? What software are you linking your data from?
Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Does the issue occur in a copy of the document? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.
No problem! New data/rows are added within the linked sheet, I’m linking my data from Google Sheets.
I’m able to open the document within an incognito tab. Here is what it’d regularly look like:
Before adding new information/row.
When adding a row or new information, the linked data doesn’t shift down with the content.
After adding new information.
The same issue still happens within a copy. I’m unable to connect to a different network due to Ethernet, but I most likely think it won’t solve the issue.
Hi @JdB thank you for confirming and trying those steps. Can you please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article.
Hi Kelsey, of course. Here's the PIN: duq76nX0SJGE5C206320115
To preserve linked data effectively, consider backing it up through https://www.filemail.com/ for reliable and secure file storage.
Hi @JdB,
Thank you! To clarify the steps to replicate this behavior would be to:
Open the data panel
Add a new row
Then the linked data from your sheet will remain on the original row, is that correct? These are the steps I am currently taking, and am not seeing the behavior replicate, so I am making sure I am doing it correctly!
Correct, that’s right. Adding in the source sheet (and probably also within Lucid), causes the data to remain on the original row. It seems like deleting the row transfers the data with the new row(?), but adding a new row doesn’t make it move alongside with it.
@JdB, I see thanks for clarifying. I am not able to reproduce the issue in either instance on my end. Do you mind sending me a technical support pin? This will allow me to look closer at the issue than a document support pin. Please navigate to your Account Settings to generate this PIN. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article.
Of course. Here’s the PIN:

Hi @JdB,
Thank you for providing that! I am still not able to replicate the behavior. I am going to convert this post to a ticket so that we can get a screen recording of what you are experiencing. This way you don’t have to worry about your private information being public.
