Question

Failing to import MS icon SVG files

Hi

I have been trying to import the Microsoft Power Platform shapes in SVG from the following site

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/guidance/icons

However the shapes are failing to import as the imported shape appear as blank.

Just hoping to have this resolved before my trial runs out as I want to make sure this product is right for us.

Hi @jungtae j thanks for posting in the community! What you have described is related to an open bug that has been reported this to our development team. I have added your information to the report.

Unfortunately we do not currently have a timeline for this fix. I recognize that this issue may hinder your workflow and I want to be transparent so that you are able to move forward in the best way possible. Our development team has to rigorously prioritize what to work on based on the extent and criticality of the issue and because of this it's not likely that this issue will be resolved quickly. I apologize for any disruption this may cause and would like to do all I can to help you continue your work.

As a workaround I recommend either converting the SVG file to a PNG or importing the shapes as an image file then right clicking to select 'Add to Custom Shape Library'. While neither is a perfect solution they may help you to continue your work for the time being.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Any ETA running into the same thing

Hi @dustin s thanks for letting us know that you're also experiencing this issue. Unfortunately there isn't an ETA for a fix for this issue however the work around mentioned in my comment above does still work--converting the shapes to PNG files or importing the shapes as in image file.

Hope this helps and apologies for any inconvenience this causes you. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Running into the same issue. The following Azure SVG is importing as blank. When choosing menu option "insert > image" it arrives as blank. Worse yet when I chose "insert > svg" and selected the file it froze the entire page permanently. The behavior is consistent across browser restarts.

Hi James

Thank you for posting on this thread and thanks for letting us know that you're also experiencing this issue. Unfortunately there still isn't an ETA for a fix for this issue however the work around mentioned in Leianne's comment above still works--converting the shapes to PNG files or importing the shapes as in image file.

Hope this helps and apologies for any inconvenience this causes you. Please let me know if you have any other questions

It's not limited to MS Icon libraries.

Not a single major icon family imports to LucidChart properly with standard SVGs.

MS Icons fail GCP's updated icon set locks up the browser on import.  Google Material Icons exhibit many strange rendering bugs.  I stopped trying at this point.  These are highly curated extremely well crafted SVG image sets - there should be no issue rendering these properly.

Lucidchart doesn't support font-based icon sets either - leaving us to only use PNG format images - a really poor look for a vector diagramming application.

Figma "just works" with all of the above.

Hi Tyler

Thank you for following up in this thread and apologies for the frustration caused by this. Thanks for letting us know that this is happening for other icon families as well - I have added this to the existing bug.

Once again we apologize for any inconveniences caused by this. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

This is still an issue. Really frustrating.

Hi @york, j

Our apologies for the inconvenience -- we can certainly understand your frustration. I have reported this to our development team and will post updates in this thread if there is any news.

Seriously, this is so important to make beautiful drawings that I think it’s absurd that this issue is overlooked for almost two years now.
